Michelin Star Michelin Star
A corporate event is rarely just a convivial celebration: It is an expression of appreciation towards the workforce, a strong tool for team building and employer attractiveness, as well as a visible part of corporate culture to the outside world. This is precisely why more and more HR teams, event managers, and executives are carefully considering how and where they celebrate.

Hosting a vegan corporate event at Michelin level is no longer a compromise, but rather a conscious statement for sustainability, inclusion, and contemporary indulgence for many companies.
Berlin is one of the global pioneers in plant-based culinary arts, making the expectations for a team event or anniversary all the higher to deliver complete conviction. We show what really matters when planning a vegan corporate event in Berlin; organisationally, culinarily, and tax-wise.

Why companies are increasingly designing team events to be plant-based

A practical argument is often underestimated in event planning: A purely plant-based catering excludes no one at the table. In modern teams, widely differing dietary preferences come together, from vegetarians and vegans to flexitarians, as well as intolerances or religious requirements.
A classic meat buffet requires tedious advance surveys, special orders, and often leads to individual employees feeling left out. A well-thought-out, vegan menu at star level solves this problem with a common denominator that delights everyone.

In addition, the sustainability aspect is gaining more and more importance in corporate communication and ESG reporting. A company event with a certified sustainability concept can be communicated credibly and proudly both internally and externally. For recruiting and retaining talent, such a team event sends a strong signal: It demonstrates a clear stance and appreciation for the environment and health, without sacrificing enjoyment or atmosphere.

Handling company events correctly regarding taxes

Besides the atmosphere, the tax framework also plays a central role in corporate celebrations. Company events such as summer parties, anniversaries, or Christmas parties benefit from clear tax advantages, provided the requirements are met: If the celebration takes place exclusively for the company's own workforce, an allowance of 110 euros per person (gross) applies for up to two company events per year.
Up to this threshold, the costs remain fully deductible for the company as operating expenses and tax-free for employees. If the limit of 110 euros per head is exceeded, only the amount above that is taxed at a flat rate of 25 percent.

Caution with mixed forms: As soon as external guests such as clients, partners, or applicants participate in the celebration, the classic 70-percent rule for business meals applies to the total catering costs, and the allowance no longer applies. An exact list of participants is therefore indispensable for the tax authority.

Occasion of the eventTax treatment
Pure company event (summer party, Christmas party)Up to 110 € per person tax-free & fully deductible as operating expenses (max. 2 events/year)
Exceeding the allowance (> 110 € per person)The amount above 110 € is taxed at a flat rate of 25 %
Event with external guests (clients, partners included)70 % deductible as operating expenses (input tax fully deductible)

What makes a successful corporate event culinarily

At a corporate event, the shared experience takes centre stage. Food is the heart that shapes the atmosphere and encourages conversation. A flexible format that suits the character of the celebration is important: A formal 5-course menu rarely fits a lively summer party, whereas a high-end flying dinner or a live cooking buffet brings movement to the team and promotes exchange between different departments.
At the same time, the culinary aspect should be a highlight that people talk about in the office the next day. Live cooking elements, explanations from the chefs on surprising plant-based ingredients, or custom signature cocktails from the mobile bar create interaction and turn catering into a true event experience.
